I recently photographed a wedding for a friend of my sister. I had been looking forward to this solo gig for a while. The ceremony took place at Lynell Park off West River Dr. We were worried that it might rain but, again, we lucked out. Looking back at these photos, I now wish I would've been more creative with the cloudy skies and the fish ponds at the park. My only excuse was that we were loosing light fast because of the weather and had to get to the reception on time. The reception was at English Hills Country Club. The food was good and everyone worked their way onto the dance floor.

Here's a preview...

Mercer wedding in Holland

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure once again of working with Heather from Absolute Photography on one of her weddings. It rained while we were at the church and stopped shortly before going to the beach. Perfect timing and awesome clouds made for some really cool shots.

Here's a short preview of my shots from the beach and the church.

The Upper Peninsula

Last weekend, I went camping in the U.P. My brother and sister-in-law met up with us and brought my nephew Ethan along, too. We had a blast and I just wanted to share a few snapshots from the trip.

Brown-Page wedding

What a gorgeous couple. The wedding was on Sunday July 26th and I've been posting some of the photos on Flickr but completely forgot about this blog.
The wedding was so much fun. It rained a little but not enough to be a bad thing. The light was nice and the overcast sky made for some nice even shots.
Take a look for yourself.

Artprize

I've been asked to contribute some photography/Photoshop know-how to a very large collaborative piece downtown for Artprize. So yesterday, I grabbed my camera bag and went for a bike ride to find some flowers for ideas. The gears are turning...I just wish Sunflowers were in bloom. Darn!

Blue sky wedding (Chinavar preview)

I was worried about the weather at first because when I left GR, it was raining. By the time I arrived in Monroe, the sun was out and the clouds were nice and fluffy. It turned out to be a gorgeous day for a wedding in the park.

Chinavar wedding. Monroe, MI

I traveled to the east side this weekend for a wedding in Monroe, MI. Cassie and Luke were married in Elizabeth Park in Trenton on an old crumbly bridge with wrought iron railings...very cool.
As the minister was asking for the rings, a man in a kayak going under the bridge shouted, "Is it too late, or can I still marry her?" We all couldn't help but laugh.
After that, Cassie's little girl made sure she was in the ALL of the photos...what a cutie!
The reception was at Luke's mother's house, with a tent in the backyard and a TV in the garage for all of the Redwings junkies. Definitely a laid-back evening.
I will post a preview of their photos tomorrow.

Day 1

Day 1....of this blog, that is.
A while back, a friend from school suggested I start a blog and get used to keeping up with it in order to slowly build clientele. It felt like deja vu of a moment about 3 years ago in which a different friend from school insisted I give up and buy a digital camera because "that's the way the industry is going". Fast forward to today and that's the way the industry has already gone. I still shoot film on occasion and still dream of owning a Deardorf or similar, but that is someday and this is today.
I can promise no one is reading this, not today anyway, I can also promise that I won't "blog" everyday, but I plan to start something here and post updates whenever something exciting happens with my photography.
